Coleman Park Community Center is a fun location for children of all ages. This center has room for visitors to play several active sports, including basketball, tennis, and shuffleboard. There are two picnic shelters available, as well as a children’s playground and a wet play area for those hot summer days.

Grassy Waters Preserve

This nature preserve brings you deep into the Florida Everglades for a fun filled visit full of educational and recreational activities. The Grassy Water Preserve, also known as the GWP, serves as the local community conservation center and provides fresh drinking water to more than 130,000 residents of the West Palm Beach area. This location was once the headquarters of the Everglades system and it is the Water Catchment Area for the city of West Palm Beach. Many visitors enjoy the wetlands wildlife sanctuary as well as visiting Apoxee Park, which is located inside the preserve. The park represents a series of planned parks in the region and has been set aside for preservation as well as public recreational use.

Phipps Skate Park

Families with children and teens who love to skate can visit this fun and safe area located on S. Dixie Highway. Phipps Skate Park features 23,000 square feet of concrete base surfaces with several ramps and decks constructed out of Skate-Lite Pro skating surface. Helmets are mandatory at this outdoor facility and waivers must be signed by a parent or legal guardian if a skater is under the age of 18. BMX bikes are welcome on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Howard Park Community Center is a 13.8 acre park that offers street side parking along Lake Avenue and lot parking at Parker Avenue. The park is named after D.D. “Dad” Howard, who was the first Superintendent of Streets and Public Spaces in the city. There are several amenities available at this pleasant community park, including a tennis center with seven courts available, two basketball courts, a shuffleboard court, a large softball field, a multipurpose field that may be used for picnics and playtime, two children’s playground areas, a pavilion, walking trails, a dog park, and an indoor community center.
